The innovation labs in the "FFB PreFab"

Where innovation starts

The "FFB PreFab" is home to five innovation laboratories - four located in the south wing and one in the clean and dry room area. After commissioning, they will be used for quality assurance during production and research.

The production and laboratory are located close together in "FFB PreFab", making it easier to monitor and optimize each process step. This ensures that the quality requirements for materials and intermediate products are met step-by-step.

The innovation laboratories provide a foundation for studying the scaling processes involved in material synthesis and production of solid-state batteries, along with the solid-state electrolytes required for their operation. By collaborating with academic partners, we can combine our knowledge and resources, thereby accelerating the development of alternative battery technologies.

Our laboratories offer plenty of space for flexible working. The open areas allow for individually configurable use of space (e.g. through gloveboxes) and thus the scaling of new synthesis and production processes.

Floor-level fume cupboards protect laboratory staff when working with hazardous substances and can also enclose larger process systems than usual. They comply with the requirements of the EU safety directive EN 14175 and prevent harmful substances from escaping into the room.

A fume cupboard ensures safety at every workstation: Here you can see a directional fume cupboard that can be used for exhaust gas extraction if required.

Ein Standardabzug mit interner Arbeitsfläche, der zukünftig z.B. für die Probenvorbereitung genutzt werden könnte. Hier können Gefahrenstoffe wie NMC-Materialien, qualitätssichernden Analysen unterzogen werden.

A high level of media equipment in all laboratories ensures that innovation laboratories are well equipped for the research of today and tomorrow.
