Energy Generation by the Heat Pump

Heat pumps are essential in battery cell production due to their ability to provide efficient heating and cooling. This results in reduced energy consumption and costs, while maintaining optimal production conditions. They also contribute to environmental sustainability by creating a more efficient and controlled production environment. A highly efficient new combi-machine is used in this case, which provides both cold and heat simultaneously by utilizing the waste heat from refrigeration as a source of heat generation. The output temperatures are 4°C and 87°C.

Functionality

A combination heat pump is capable of generating both cold and heat at the same time, by utilizing the waste heat from cold generation (chiller) as a source for the two-stage high-temperature heat pump. This coupling allows for performance figures of up to 8, which means that for every kilowatt of electrical power used to operate the heat pump, 8 kW of thermal output is generated.

Efficiency

Total efficiency ratio (TER) up to 8

Environmental Impact

Approx. 700 MWh/a electrical energy is needed and equals 300 tons CO2 per year.
