Fraunhofer Research Institution for Battery Cell Production FFB Hasibe Turhan is an industrial engineer and has been working at the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Battery Cell Production FFB in the Plant and Process Optimization department since July 2020. Together with her team, she takes care of the planning of the clean and dry rooms as well as the plant installation and construction scheduling.
What made you become a scientist?
I wanted to work in a field where I hold in my hands the highest good there is for me to achieve: research work. For me, research means curiosity, and following curiosity means progress. In my job, the research drive leads to technical innovation. I find that fascinating.
What challenges do you face in your job as an industrial engineer and how do you meet them?
Our institute is still in the start-up phase and is constantly on the move. Maturing in my role is certainly one of the challenges I am currently facing. I succeed best by constantly working on my knowledge and my personality, but also by finding support in the exchange within the team. One of the biggest challenges, however, is wanting to meet the high standards of scientific work.
What do you enjoy most about your job in science?
On the one hand, it's the freedom I have in my work and the trust that the management places in me. On the other hand, it is the intensive exchange among colleagues. This also includes the employees of other Fraunhofer Institutes with whom we work closely. It is fun to work in direct contact with people, to learn from them and to realize our common vision. What makes me happy is the certainty that, as a scientist, I am following the noblest path I can personally imagine.
