Lifelong learning for a Green Europe

European Learning Lab Battery Cells

The rapid upscaling of battery cell production in Europe is leading to current skill gaps: By 2030, up to 300,000 battery experts will be needed along the entire supply chain. We can meet these challenges by providing adequate training programs for battery experts and managers: The reskilling of employees from other sectors (for example in the field of combustion engines), or the more in-depth qualification of employees in areas such as digitalization (for example automation of production processes) contributes to being competitive on the battery market.

The European Learning Lab Battery Cells (ELLB) is actively engaged in shaping qualification programs in the battery sector with innovative upskilling and reskilling offers and a lively community. Together, we can make Germany and Europe a leading player on the global battery market and thus help to drive the energy revolution in response to the climate crisis.

On the way to becoming a leading training provider in the field of battery cells

Our philosophy:

  • Close cooperation on a European level
  • Iterative exchange with industry partners during the development of the curriculum
  • Agile approach to address changes in the market and quickly create added value
  • The learning lab as a nucleus, embedded in a high-level competence network
  • Inclusion of the production lines, for example through augmented reality applications
  • Innovative possibilities in training and curriculum
  • Innovative learning environments based on the new-work-principle
  • Virtually interconnected learning, targeted use of smart learning technologies

Who is the target group for our training program?

The various education programs offered by the European Learning Lab Battery Cells – both virtually and on site in Münster - are individually customized for the specific target groups:

Professionals (Private and Corporate)

Students

Apprentices

Staff of the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Battery Cell Production FFB

Who is behind the Project?

Employees of the Fraunhofer Academy, various Fraunhofer-institutes and institutes of the Fraunhofer Battery Alliance, the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Battery Cell Production FFBRWTH Aachen University and University of Münster (WWU), as well as experts from industry, are jointly developing an innovative curriculum for the up- and re-skilling of the required specialists.
